conducted by Alan PiersonFrom traditional Irish influences to Argentinian klezmer stylings,Crash Ensemble’s Stranger Folk delivers an evening of exciting new classical music. The program includes works by Irish composers Gerald Barry and John Godfrey, alongside the Irish premiere of Donnacha Dennehy’s ‘As an Nós’, which was commissioned by the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players in 2009. The program also includes works by the American composer John Zorn, the Dutch composer Jacob TV, and Grammy award-winning Argentinian composer, Osvaldo Golijov. Stranger Folk caps off a successful year for Crash Ensemble that included a BBC recorded concert in London, a US tour, the world premiere of a new work with Grammy award-winning US Soprano, Dawn Upshaw, and the recording of an album for US record label, Nonesuch.
