TradSoc: John CarrollTradsoc @ An Seomra Caidreamh presents John Carroll
Down through the years John Carroll, who hails from Effin, Co. Limerick, has emerged as one of Munster’s finest accordion players. His music is noted for its suitability for dancing, a quality brought from his background in ceili band music. John plays with the Allow Ceili band who won the All-Ireland band competition in Tullamore in 2007. He has toured extensively both solo and as part of the Comhaltas tours of Ireland, Britain and North America and has also toured with the Allow Ceili Band, who are due to release their eagerly awaited debut album in the New Year. John has appeared on many radio and television shows including TG4’s popular show ‘Geantrai’ and Radio 1’s ‘Ceili House’ with Kieran Hanrahan. His name is a sure fire crowd puller on sessions trails at festivals throughout the country with traditionalists in particular enjoying his relaxed yet infectiously rhythmic brand of accordion playing.
